Oliver Rentschler is the Director-General for Climate Diplomacy, Economic Affairs and Technology in the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. He previously headed the Directorate for Strategic Communication and Foresight in the European External Action Service in Brussels, where he also served as Deputy Head of Cabinet of High Representative/Vice-Presidents Federica Mogherini and Catherine Ashton. Earlier assignments include the Private Office of Foreign Ministers Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Guido Westerwelle as well as German Missions in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Mr Rentschler holds a Masters Degree in Political Economy from the University Bayreuth.
