Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith has been an Attorney-at-Law for close to 22 years, having worked both in private practice and as corporate in-house counsel. In September 2020, Senator Johnson Smith was reappointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, having served in that capacity after her first appointment in March 2016. The Minister brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience to this position, and is Jamaica’s first female Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister Johnson Smith has been a strong advocate in the attainment of Jamaica’s sustainable development goals, strengthening Jamaica’s contribution to important global efforts to build peace and security, foster respect for human rights, and promote a strong and fair multilateral trading system which are pursued through a wide range of bilateral, regional, hemispheric and international fora and international development partners.
