The switch to renewable energies in all sectors is key to secure a global green future. Energy transition combines climate protection with greater security and resilience as well as sustainable opportunities for economies. Domestic renewables are largely unaffected by international tensions, payable and close to citizens.

Dr Simone Peter is the president of the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE) since 2018. She was chairperson of the German green party between 2013 and 2018, member of parliament in the state of Saarland (Germany) between 2012 and 2013, and minister for environment, energy and transportation in the state of Saarland (Germany) between 2009 and 2012. Between 2004-2009 she was CEO and project manager of the German Agency for Renewable Energy in Berlin (Germany) and before she was researcher and editor at EUROSOLAR, the European Association for Renewable Energy in Bonn (Germany). She has a PhD in microbiology.
