The most important step in my opinion is exerting expanded efforts to mobilize public and private finance in addition to de-risk clean energy investments.
H.E. Professor Dr. Mohamed Shaker El-Marqabi is the current Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, before that, he had worked as a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Cairo University since 1968. He got his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Imperial College, University of London, in 1978. Furthermore, he started the consultancy works in the field of electromechanical engineering in 1982, as soon as he established his electromechanical engineering consultancy office, where his office has gained a widespread presence in a number of Arab countries. During 40 years of practicing the profession of consulting engineering, he contributed in designing, supervising, and implementing about 1,500 projects in Egypt, in addition to many Arab and African countries. He holds the position of Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy from March 2014 until now.
