Diego Pardow Lorenzo is a Lawyer from the University of Chile and a Master’s and Doctor in Law from the University of California, Berkeley. He was a professor at the Law School of the University of Chile, and until his appointment as Minister of Energy, he served as Head of the Monitoring Unit of the Presidency of the Government of President Gabriel Boric Font. He was Executive President of the think tank Espacio Público between October 2019 and June 2021. His main area of research is the economic analysis of law, especially on institutional design, judicial reasoning, and economic and energy regulatory issues. In 2017 and 2018, he received the Edgardo Buscaglia award for the best empirical research by the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Law and Economics (ALACDE). He has also been a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank in matters of infrastructure regulation. He is a member of the Convergencia Social political party.
