Vice Minister of Petroleum and Energies, SenegalMr Cheikh Niane is Energy engineer and a has also Master degree in engineering sciences and technologies and applications at the University of Paris / National institute of nuclear sciences and technology Paris saclay. He is also graduated at the Argonne National Laboratory of University of Chicago in Nuclear infrastructure Management executive program. Mr. Cheikh Niane is currently the General Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, and also Permanent Secretary for Energy in Senegal since January 2021. Previously, he was the deputy Permanent Secretariat for Energy from January 2018 to January 2021. He also held the position of Senior Manager at Wartsila West Africa from August 2013 to December 2017, where he led activities with companies national electricity companies in West Africa. Mr Niane was also the coordinator of production and rehabilitation projects for power plants at the Ministry of Energy August 2011 to July 2013. Mr. Niane began his career in October 2007 with the French group AREVA NP as a nuclear power engineer, a position he held until July 2011. In addition, Mr. Cheikh Niane is a certified expert of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and coordinator of the national technical committee for the establishment of the nuclear research reactor project in Senegal.
